About Side Control. Drive the shoulder against the head or neck.

Leg should be under the arm. Elbow should be prevented from leaning on the mat to prevent opponent from shrimping out.

Elbow should be on top of thigh to prevent opponent's elbow from touching the mat.

Place forearm on the lower belly. Either cup or grip.

Slide knee on the opponent's lower belly. Not a full knee on belly, no need to posture up.

Foot should be tightly locked against the hip. Shaping around the opponent's hip.

Ensure under hook with one arm and keep the neck down with the other arm.

Stay fluid in the position. Don't be too rigid or stay in the same position.

Closing words. Wait for mistakes, take what the opponent gives you.

If the arm is blocked when attempting cross-choke.

Go over the head to grab the collar with thumb inside.

If your bicep is blocked. Go with the armlock.

If the arm is pulled free from armlock. Proceed to triangle.

If opponent gets high posture up and pulls the arm free. Proceed to Head Hook Arm Lock.

Another option after opponent pulls arm free from arm lock. Proceed to omoplata.

If opponent moves hips closer during figure 4 when attempting omoplata.

If Short Arm Lock cannot pulled off, proceed to Monoplata.

Rolling Omoplata. Re-roll after the same sweep to go back to the same Omoplata position.

How to break the grip from full guard if you can't get the collar.

If Choke or Arm Lock is not possible, the proceed to Shoulder Wrap Arm Lock or Americana.
